Provenance: This piece was exhibited as part of the British Tapestry Group exhibition ‘Rhythm of the Weave’ in London in 2018. This is the first time the work has been offered for sale. Only two tapestries were woven in this style. The other remains as part of a private collection.

Dimensions: W 24.5cm, H 26.5cm, D 2cm
Materials: Cotton Warp. Linen, wire and paper weft.
Hanging: Mirror plates are sewn to the reverse ready for hanging.

Rhythm of the Weave evolved from conversations with mill workers from @sunnybankmills. Each spoke of ‘knowing the cloth’. A burler and mender, who helped me extensively with my research, explained that each piece had a rhythm that she would hum as she worked.
Rhythm of the Weave takes on the appearance of the worsted cloth when magnified through the eye piece of the burler and mender, used so she could see the rhythm of the weave as she worked.
